about Helen...

Helen has been performing since she was three years old and first put on a pair of ballet shoes. She danced a lot and didn't speak up too much, until she discovered acting and a big voice that just kept getting bigger!  A whole lot of youth theatre productions later, she went on to study at Lancaster University and the University of Texas in Austin, graduating with a BA Hons 1st in Theatre Studies.

After graduation, she went on to land her first professional role in a brand new play 'The Writing on the Wall', performed at the National Trust property Lyvden New Bield, which saw her playing a temptress, a social climber and a tragic heroine all rolled into one.  This experience was pivotal in her decision to become a full-time professional, and in 2006 she completed her actor training at Birmingham School of Acting.

Since graduating from BSA, Helen's favourite roles have included Lily in 'Lily and the Magical Moonbeam' and Plop in 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' for Blunderbus Theatre Company, Abi in 'More Story Please' for Big Window Theatre Company, Mildred Hubble in 'The Worst Witch' for Nottingham Playhouse and Mowgli in 'The Jungle Book' for Image Musical Theatre.  She also began to work as a voiceover artist, starting in corporate video and expanding into radio and animation.  She hopes for this area of her work to just keep growing and aspires to one day voice characters as wild and wonderful as those she plays on stage.

Helen loves that her job means getting to play a lot and her varied work has brought her lots of new talents. In addition to acting, Helen also has skills in puppetry, singing, dance, stage combat/fencing, physical theatre and presenting - as well as playing the flute!  When Helen isn't having adventures on stage or screen, she enjoys globetrotting, writing stories and songs, pies, drawing and dreaming up ways to change the world!
